Exclamation 97' Lesabre won't shift IN park. Can shift without brake

Just happened today after school. Pulled into my driveway and put my car in park and noticed it just glided right into park without hearing the clicking noise of shifting. Car did not shift into park when I put it in park and I even wiggled it around a few times to find the problem. I can shift into other gears if I play around with the shifter but it does not lock into the gear. Also I can do this all now without using the brake. What can be wrong? Transmission was replaced 10k miles ago, I also remote start it (installed around thanksgiving) to warm up before driving. Sitting in my garage heating up and being a oversized paper weight now.

Open the hood and check the linkage connection on top of the trans, l/s of eng. Compt.

Are the other gears in the right position? If the selector is in N, is the trans in neutral? The last time I noticed how the shifter position was adjusted, it was a snap clip that I unsnapped and then put the lever on the trans into a gear (engine off) and then made sure the inside selector was in the same position, then snapped the lock into place. It somehow had opened while on a highway trip.

My next guess is that the snap effect is inside the trans where the outside lever moves an internal part that has the ability to give the feel that it's in a different gear. Since trans is relatively recent, I'd suspect a problem there.

I'd go back to the trans shop.

Sorry for the late response. It was one little bolt that was gone from the linkage connection. The other one was about go fall out. Apparently the trans shop "forgot" to tighten them. Just like they forgot to replace to the subframe bolts they took off that were rusted apart along with the rubber bushings that fell apart into eraser sized crumbs. But they didn't forgot to charge me for it! but thanks this worked! I don't know why I didn't pop the hood in the first place.
