99 Villager Timing belt replacement

How do I adjust the timing belt tensioner? Does anyone have a diagram on the timing belt points. I have seen conflicting info on where to set them. The 99 seems to have two marks on the front cam plate. Do I set it at the notch or the one at the top. Also what are the torque specs on the water pump? Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: 99 Villager Timing belt replacement

Go to the thread Factory Service Manual just above your thread title, follow instructions. Then go to Section EM. pdf, then go to page 20 in that section and it will have instructions of procedure.

The torque spec for water pump is 144 to 180 inch pounds at 1/4 turn increments.

Do yourself a favor and install new thermostat at this time also, much easier.

What I did on mine was align the belt with mark on oil pump, then using some white out I painted the marks on the cam shafts and sid of belt where the timing marks are for better visability, counting the belt teeth to make sure proper setting was achieved.

hope this helps

This link may help also.
