Anyone use a steering wheel?

I've thought about buying a steering wheel and pedals, but I don't want to go and spend like $50 on something that sucks. Anyone use these or have tried them?

I've used my friend's Logitech one.

It kinda sucks b/c you can only turn the wheel 1/4 of a revolution.

I have a microsoft sidewinder non-force feedback wheel and pedals. There are some drawbacks to the mounting system but other than that I think they were worth it.

yea u shuld get the steering wheel i got. Its the Official Gran Turismo 3 force Feedback wheel (made by logitech) and it rules! It has pedals, the wheel is blue and black (very cool) , it has 2 clamps that are the securist ive ever seen so like me ur wheel will NEVER fall off a desk or sumthin (very secure mounting system), it has optional force feedback (if its 2 hard you can unplug the force feedback thing), and it has realistic hadnling. Its quite hard at first but thats bcos of the "realistic" handling and hey u like a challenge right? The only drawback is that the GT3 Force Feedback is that its about £60.00 (In english money which i bought it in cos im in UK), so ur looking at about $70 but the extra $20 is worth the price

Re: Anyone use a steering wheel?

I bought the GT3 wheel. I didn't like it that much. Maybe I didn't give it emough time. I got 100% using the controller that came with it so it can be done. Don't know if it would have been easier if I had stuck with the wheel.

I tried the Logitech wheel, the one designed for GT3, and I hated it. I couldn't get the car to drive in a straight line not to mention that I couldn't find a good driving position with it. Needless to say I took it back two days later and have stuck with the controller ever since.

Re: Anyone use a steering wheel?

SynikalFan is right with something like that the extra pennies makes the difference i used the mad cat for gt2 and that sucked. had a dead spot in the middle making it hard to correct lines at high speed. if i had the money i would go buy a new wheel right now it makes all the difference in driving games.
