Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Well a small little update for tonight. Only one picture, but its taken me about 3 hours worth of work to get this one little part done. I've got the passenger side lower 4 link arm done. Well its mocked up. Teh part that mounts to the housing is done. And, as I type this I realize that I've made a mistake. The adjustable end should go on the housing side, and the stationary end goes on the chassis side of things. Well looks like thats going to require some correction. Anyway, this is the way all 4 4-link arms will look. The uppers will be shorter. They are constructed of brass, aluminum, and styrene. Painted flat black, followed by testors dull cote, and finished off with machined aluminum bolt heads and nuts from Hiroboy.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Got some major work done on this guy. The rear 4-link is pretty well finished up as far as fab work. I may have to break apart the inner bars and adjust them a little bit, it looks as though the pinion angle is going to be a bit out of whack. I'm still unsure as to how I'm going to secure the outer bars as everything else is drilled and pinned with styrene rod so that it will actually articulate. There may be enough for me to build a box to attach them with and insert it into the front leaf spring mounts after everything is detailed. the only thing not painted as far as the 4-link goes is the panhard bar. It may need some adjustments as it looks as though right now it may be in the way of the coil overs. They aren't complete yet so I haven't been able to check. Enjoy...

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Almost to 30K views here on this forum! Just a quick photo update. I cut some styrene circles to help me mock up the rear end and get the lengths fo rthe 4-link set correctly. I also used these to get an idea of what this beast is going to look like at ride height. I noticed that I'm going to have to re-work the front sub frame, yet again. The cross member that spans the length between the a-arms is hanging too low I think. There is a possibility it may be about right. I'll need to get the front suspension just about worked out to know for sure. Enjoy...

Hey Russell, who did those front aluminum rims? I love them! And your styrene tires put a whole new meaning to "white walls"!

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
That wheel was done by an ex girlfriends brother on a CNC machine. They do much larger jobs, this was something he tried to do on the side. All I asked for him to do was to make sleeves for my wheel centers. He didn't quite understand what I was asking for and attempted to machine the entire thing. I used to have a wheel that wasn't missing the spokes, I might have sent it back to him. But they are far from usable. The spokes were crooked and the alignment of the holes was terrible. Oh well, you win some you lose some. The only thing it cost me was the cost of the aluminum I bought for him to work with.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
Looking mighty fine Russell..
LOVE the 4-link mate, that looks wicked. I'll have to detail my 12-bolt like that when I get to it.....the extra details like real bolt heads add just so much. Looks great in black too.....sinister even......and I 'specially like the stripe ....

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
That stripe really helped to add some character to this thing. The wheels will be a brushed aluminum for the sleeve and probably a clear coated gunmetal color to match the stripe. Should look killer. If I can get the sleeves machined. There is a place online that I'm toying around with, looking at something like $190 per pair of sleeves......?!?

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
No pictures of any progress just yet. I got a little bored tonight and started kicking around some ideas for turbo construction. After about 30 minutes of research and gathering pictures, I think I'm on my way to a very convincing Turbo. If so, there will be resin turbo's in 1/12th scale for anyone interested. I plan on doing them in 3 sections, the compressor housing, the center section, then the exhaust housing. I've got to hit the hobby lobby in the next couple of days to get a hold of some supplies and tools. Look for some pictures of the Turbo in the next 24 hours. Waiting on the epoxy putty to cure so I can sand it down and shape the seams.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
I was going to do the same thing and pick up kit bash a 1/12th kit. But, I got bored and this is shaping up better than I had expected.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?
How about some new pictures and an update. I've made some headway one the Turbo, it also looks like I may have created a centrifugal supercharger as well in 1/12th scale, the compressor housing could be used as just that with some slight modification. There will be 3 primary parts, the compressor housing, the turbine housing, and the center section. The center section will have the oil feed and return connections, as well as have the turbine wheel on both ends so that they are visible.
Current assembly from the side Current assembly from the front Close up of the rear of the compressor housing Current state of the 3 pieces
