Alignment after rim change?

I was talking with my girlfriend and she said that I should get an alignment after you put on new rims. She said her ex said so. Naturally I have to take whatever he says as wrong cuz he's hella pist at me (she kinda dumped him for me). But he was a very knowledgable tuner. I just need some unbias advice here. Thanks!
