Lincoln Continental Thermostat.

I am getting ready to change a thermostat on a 1997 Lincoln Continental for a friend. The thermostat is located on the lower left side of the engine if I am correct. I was just wondering if there is anything I need to be aware of or is it pretty straight forward?

Re: Lincoln Continental Thermostat.

I haven't changed one yet so I can't say but I can tell you that you have to bleed the air out of the system afterward. There is a plug in the top metal hose (don't know it's correct name) on the passenger side. There is a square hole in it for a 1/4 drive. Run the engine with the plug out until the thermostat opens then you can put it back in.

Re: Lincoln Continental Thermostat.

Thanks for the info. I saw the tube you are talking about and wondered if it was for something like that. I am working on this for a friend in my spare time so I'm not moving too fast. I have since discovered that the cooling fan is not working ,pretty sure it's the fan, so now I'm trying to get the fan out. If there are any tricks I should know about please let me know as I am ready to get this project behind me.
