Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
Just ordered mine ! The thought is there all the time "Is it worth the money!?".. But I´ll guess it will be when I get it ! everytime I order an expensive kit I think "is it worth it?".. But when it lays on the table.. all those parts.. it´s pure model-porn !

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
Has anyone heard of any other aftermarket parts or details on the way for this kit yet?
The unofficially? announced Scale Motorsport stuff is sure to be nice, but I don't imagine it will be available any time soon going by the long wait so far for the 1/12 Mustang Bullit set. Regards, Dan

SMS Photo CD arrived today, but who on earth held that camera? I know sitting in a running Enzo would be really exciting, but please try to hold the camera still

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
Hi, I have made a bit of a start on the kit, bolted some things together, just to see what I am dealing with
1. warning, the red parts are quite fragile and break in places where you won't expect it. 2. some screw holes are either too big or the plastic in there is too soft, I have several holes on the frame and on the hood, where I can screw forever, the hole has no thread left. And I did not use force or something like that, it is just not made properly. Sorry, but for a 350$ kit overall I was expecting a little bit more, to be honest. I was thinking about filling the holes with putty and put the screws in while that hardens. Is that a good idea? Or shall I just superglue the parts and lose the "screwing" bit? |

Maybe it's better to enlarge a little the holes, fill them glueing an evergreen plastic rod inside instead of putty, manually drill the right hole to hold the proper screw.
I wouldn't use superglue, a screwed part is better to me. |

Thats a good idea, just ordered some rods, now I just have to wait until they arrive
Oh, and for everyone who is waiting, I got a mail from Scale Motorsports stating they will make addons for the Enzo, mainly photoetched parts and carbon fiber templates, perhaps turned metal parts as well. Shall come out around October. I don't know about you, but I have a hell of a lot of other things lying around, I can surely wait another few month till I begin that beast |

OK guys...... somebody must have made a start on this kit by now.... surely?
How about posting a few pics of your progress so far... no matter how big or small that might be. It might help inspire me to get some other stuff out of the way so I can make a proper start on my Enzo. Regards, Dan

I know, but I was hoping I could get my fix through seeing someone else making some progress. I'm just finding it difficult to devote enough time to Enzo building at this very moment with the usual work, kids, home renovations, more work etc. Hopefully soon. Btw..... I think the pics of the kit contents should be all thats required to convince anyone that this kit is a worthwhile purchase..... at least at HLJ prices...... and if not, then I guess this kit isn't for you then. Regards, Dan

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
I keep looking at Hobbyeasy's site seeing if it's sold out yet, haha. I told my fiancee that my Christmas list is going to have one thing on it this year, and the she has to get it for me.
Man, I hope I can still get this thing in 6 months! Maybe she can take a rain check on my Xmas gift. |

Did anyone in the UK buy this from HLJ and did you get stung by customs?

YES!!!!
If you buy it from HLJ, pay a bit extra for the Fedex special delivery - apparently hardly ever touched by import duty. I opted for standard post - cheapest - Customs hammered me £60!!!! (I'm in the UK - Ipswich) Still worked out around £80 cheaper than anywhere in the UK though. Roy. |
