r/s or z28

me and my brother always see those 80s camaros and we where debating on the engine size which is bigger the r/s or the z28? i always thiought that the z28 was a 302 and the r/s a 350 but like i have said in other posts i dont know camaros.

It depends on the year. Initially Z-28s had 302s for SCCA T/A homologation. In 1970 they got 350s. Later Z-28s could have low performance 305s or 350s. None of the 1980s Z-28s performed well, even with the TPI 350. But, of-course, in 1993 they got the LT1 350 and performance was back.

The R/S package was not an engine option package.

Agreed. The R/S was always an appearance package. True, from 1967-1969, a RS could have a bigger engine than a Z28, but from 1970 on, the Z28 always had the same or bigger engine than a RS.

the z28 has a 350 in it stock, while the rs has a 305 or smaller motor in it...the rs is for the looks of the body kit and rims

well thanks for the help do you know if the 80's z/28 could take my bros 90 eclipse runing 15 psi with full exaust? just wondering i think the rs's look pretty nice but id rather have a firebird.

Hey 1g1yy...My information is 100% correct considering I drive a 92 Camaro Rally Sport(305)...one of the members of Carolina Muscle Drives a 92 Camaro Z28(350), and another one drives 02 Camaro Z28 (LS1-350), and one drives a 82 Camaro Z28(350)...go to your local parts store or library, pick up a book about cars and learn something...

A few things I would have to know to predict that race...Automatic or Standard...1/4, 1/8th...or other distance? The camaro could have alot done to it...so watch out...you have to know a lot of stuff to predict

Hey CMsecretary, your info is not 100% correct -- you are the one who needs to read up on cars. Sometimes a bit of personal experience does not give you COMPLETE knowledge about a subject! I had a couple of eighties Z-28s and guess what? Both had 305s in them stock!! Oh, and you can start your studying-up right here on this forum by reading the section on Z-28s. Most later eighties Z-28s came with 305s not 350s! I know this because when I went to look for my third one I had to look at a lot of cars before I found what I wanted -- and even then it was not a Z-28, but an '88 T/A GTA with the TPI 350. T/As also mostly came with 305s.

Again, if you want to add something make sure it is correct info. It is not foolish to not know something -- but it is foolish to think you know it all when it is obvious you don't!

Camaro R/S means "Camaro Really Slow" and Z28 is the performance Camaro, 28 is the top speed.

If you have a '67 'Cuda you shouldn't be worrying about these cars. The only thing I worry about is if the guy in the next car is gonna blow his motor up and a piston comes through that rusty Fisher body and spoils my car...

Hey, Bleeddodge, a '67 Cuda is neither a pony car nor a muscle car.

It is simply a sporty 60s economy car.

It is one of the cars we used to laugh at in the sixties because some guys would "rice" them out and think they had something!!

Usually they would jack the rear up and put glass packs on.

slothboy i was wondering if a camaro could beat my bros eclipes. i just prefer the firebird body style from the 80's

and 1g1yy fuck you ok dont make fun of my car because yor incicure or something. you probably like your rice more than your muscle. and i dont think its possible to rice out a muscle car and for your info the barracuda was the first pony car. it came out two weeks before the mustang. your on my shit list now
