Driver Information Center - Phantom Doors Open

Lately, if we start our 08 Uplander with a door open, the car never gets the hint that the door is closed. Both front and rear doors. If we shut the car off and restart, it reads the door as closed.

I have read up on the power sliding door problems, but this happens with the fronts too.

Anyone run into this?

Erica-

Great to see you guys on here. I have worked supporting GM for almost 18 years. I was really looking to see if there was a TSB or a quick fix for this. No major issues with the vehicle. As it is out of warranty, I am a little hesitant to take it in for service right now.

We like this van and plan on keeping it.

Re: Driver Information Center - Phantom Doors Open

Kruzer-

I did not end up taking it in to the dealer. I did make a change that has made the issue disappear. I followed the prompts to set my compass. In all of the years I have had this van I never set the compass properly. Once I did that, the phantom door open message has not been seen again.

Good Luck!

Re: Driver Information Center - Phantom Doors Open

I had the exact same problem. It's an expensive repair if you did not buy the van as a certified pre-owned which comes with a 30 day warranty.

The problem is caused by a bad / defective / faulty Instrument Cluster.

Or you can live with the inconvenience, but I think it's a safety issue that should be addressed.
