o/d light flashing....again!
Well, three tranny's later and it's doing it again. The o/d light is flashing and I'm getting a hard downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear. This '95 is really starting to give me headache! This last rebuild cost me $2600 and thankfully I purchased the 3 yr extended warranty from the nationally acclaimed Transmission shop that I took it to. However, the last time I took it in, they told me that I had a short in the electrical system involving the transmission. I definately need some help. I'm only getting about 14 months on each occurrence while the first transmission rebuild lasted 3 years. Any ideas short of taking a long drive off a short pier with this one?

I am having that same problem
My 97 eddie bauer explorer is doing that same bs right now... I was told by the dealership yesterday that it would cost more to fix than the value of the vehicle... I guess it is a well known issue with Ford that their transmissions suck... Basically they told me I was SOL! So any advice you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: I am having that same problem
I read somewhere(probably here) that if you disconnect the battery it resets the computer. So I tried that and the light and thunk went away. Problem solved. Sort of. I must have an electrical or computer problem. So you can try that and see if it helps.--ky

Grounds....Grounds.....Grounds!!! The communications on the newer vehicles are very prone to problems if you have bad grounds. In fact I was reading just yesterday that one of the new standards that will be adopted is Grounding posts installed on the vehicles during manufacturing. Posts welded right intot he frames so Ring terminals of some sort can be fixed right to these posts.
