Did you ever get this problem fixed? If so, how did you fix it and how much did it cost?

I've got the same problem on a Mk2 auto. I had a computer scan of the problem done at a local Automatic Transmission place. Apparently it's the transmssion range sensor, which they would replace for about £230.

Welcome to AF. The thread you posted on is 19 months old. It is unlikely you will get a reply on it. If it is over 3 months old start a new one rather than resurrecting an old one.
