Angry 97 expedition wont start

so... my 97 expedition just wouldn't start after just driving it it has a new ac compressor new serpentine belt new starter solenoid battery giving off power needed. litterally had the truck running for a day before adding the starter solenoid (put on last night to see if that was the problem) truck has power, when i turn my key over and hit my kill switch it still will not start what else could be the issue?

Re: 97 expedition wont start

I am going to assume that you are cranking the starter and it is turning over the engine at a good speed, but there is no sound of the engine beginning to spark and fire? An engine needs 3 things to run, air/fuel/ignition. I would hook up a OBD-II reader and look for codes. If the CEL (check engine light) isn't on to indicate a code to help show where the problem is (some problems need the engine having run to set them), I usually start with the simplest then. I would open up the air cleaner and give one shot of starting fluid into the intake past the air filter and try to start. If the engine tries to fire from the starting fluid, then you know your problem is fuel related and you can trace your problem in that direction. If it isn't that, then I would pull out a spark plug and test to see if it is sparking during cranking (search youtube for video on how to do that). If it isn't sparking, then you have an electrical issue and can head in that direction.

If it is not turning over, then you might want to check your transmission switch-- most vehicles won't allow you to start the vehicle when the transmission is not in Park.

Try bumping the shift lever toward the Park position and see if that makes a difference.

Try in neutral and check if it will turn over. Check battery connections and ground.
