I found one at the model store today.
Revell ProFinish brand. It's in a window box so you can see the pre-painted body. http://www.revell-monogram.com/store...=0&Number=1338 |

"Model Type/Brand: ProFinish® SnapTite®" SnapTite? I mean im not all that great at modelling (getting better with practise ) but I can handle more challenge than a snap-together. In fact, I would never want one of those. What is the fun / challenge in getting a pre-painted kit? I find the whole fun of making a kit is painting it either realistically, or doing it 100% custom. thanks, but no-thanks jay.

Snap-Tite kits have gotten a bad rap. You should be just as worried that it's a Revell kit.
What's wrong with Snap-Tite? Especially if that's the only Hummer they sell? At least check it out. You can still glue it together if it make your feel better. Seriously, the model store had one built, and it looked just fine. Edit: You can also strip all the pre-painted paint and do it yourself if you like. Ask me how! |

About stripping it down, its something to ponder if I would do that. It looks pretty good the way it is but on the other hand,I know its wacky, but im addicted to purple (infact plum crazy purple) and ive dreamt many times about having a plum crazy purple hummer, and I really really really want to build one. About stripping down a kit, I have a mustang thats 25% done or so, but the paint job on the body turned out shitty, so I was just keeping the parts for use on another kit. I wouldnt mind finishing this, but it needs to be stripped down, and I dont know how. Im guessing its more complicated than just wiping it down with thinner? Thanks again jay.

You've only painted base coats, right? No detail yet? If you want to go ahead and strip all the paint from the car body, here's what you do: Go to your local auto supply store and buy a bottle of Castrol Super Clean, a pair of rubber gloves and a cheap brush with medium bristles. You also need a plastic tupperware-like box that's bigger than the car body. 1. Wear gloves. 2. Pour all the CSC into the plastic box. 3. Put the car body in the plastic box, in the CSC. Don't worry if the car isn't completely covered, you can let it sit, then flip it over to get the other side later. 4. Let it soak in there for at least four hours. 5. Use your gloved finger to rub some of the treated paint. If it smears off, it's almost ready. When it wipes off, it is ready. 6. Use the brush to scrub all the paint off. 7. Wash the body with water. You can re-use the CSC if you filter it back into the bottle. And it's biodegradeable, so if you spill, just wash with water. Worked great for my NSX. |

Well, the hunt for the hummer is over. I have been unable to find anything remotly decent, so when I was out at the hobby store this evening, I fell in love with this:
