Can you imagine the CL in a Convertible style?
Can you imagine the CL in a convertible style? How do you think it would look, thumbs up or thumbs down, or you can't imagin it at all. If one of you are really good at photoshop, then maybe you could take the CL in my signature, and make a photoshop with it.

Re: Can you imagine the CL in a Convertible style?
it would be GREAT if MB decided to make convertible... yes.. GREAT.. but impossible. Physics just doesn't allow for a coupe that big not to have a weak roof. The body torque would be immense.

I doubt a convertible would look too good on a CL. It would take away from the sleek look the CL is known for. Unless you are thinking about a hard top convertible. That would be impossible to do though.

Re: Can you imagine the CL in a Convertible style?
Or if you're really rich... You could have it customized?
Silly idea to do that though... But I do really would like my S500 Coupe to be a convertible, I guess that that's the only thing my car is missing... Wind blowing in my hair while I do 160kmh down the beach |

I have news for you. I remember reading in a magazine, that Mercedes has already produced a cabriolet version on the CL and the C Class sports coupe. The Sports coupe was a one off concept vehicle, but the 5 examples of the CL were built and auctioned for charity in Europe. I know that there is a picture in existence, but I can’t find it. It is safe to say, that Mercedes did a much better job that the CL above, with the massive roof being totally submerged under a solid cover, much like that of the CLK.

I too have pondered the thought of a CL convertable. I mean, come on, they're Mercedes-Benz! They have a vehicle for every niche you can think of. If you need a perticular ttpe of car or truck, I guarentee Mercedes has a vehicle in that niche. So why no CL convertable? I suppose they thought that if you have the money for a CL, but want a convertable, you'd buy an SL. But The CL is such a classy coupe that Mercedes may not want to sacrifice the CL's image. But who knows why. The 07 CL (spy pics are already floating around the internet) could introduce a convertable counterpart to the CL coupe. And just for the hell of it, why not make a hard top SL without the retractable roof?

Re: Can you imagine the CL in a Convertible style?
^No doubt that would be pretty sweet. I agree with the lack of hte CL-class ragtop... isn't that was the SL was intended for anyway?
