Right amp for the job and how to wire the setup?

Sub Info:
Ok I got 3 subs (no one likes 3 subs but im trying it anyway) They are 10 inch rockfords that are 4 ohm impendence, RMS 200, max 400. I currently have an Audio Lightining amp(not the greatest) running them all, 2X150 at 2 ohms. I would imagine 150 bridged at 4 ohms but im not sure. Thats no where near the 600 rms that I would like to be near.
Setup:
Positive and negative line coming out (bridged) I then have these 2 lines connecting with my other 3 paired lines. I have all the positives wirenuted and same w/ negatives. So what I am wondering is what would be the best amp to be running these on? Mono? 4 channel? as well with the amp style I need to know how and if my wiring setup would need to be changed.
I have heard that it is difficult to deal with 3 speakers and I am strting to realize thats true. I was told mono amp parallel lines would be the best but I can't find a 1 ohm stable amp that runs like 500 rms. Any suggestions on an amp or change in setup would be appreciated.

I found this amp that is stable at 1 ohm but is only 200 watts rms at 4 ohms. any other amp suggestions?

You need a mono amp that does ~600x1 @ 1.33 ohm. There are a couple ways of going about this, you could get an amp that puts out the same power regardless of the impedence (JBL mono amps, JL, etc), or you could get an amp that does 800x1 @ 1ohm. Either would work fine, just depends on what you can find.

the link to the amp I have above would that work good it is 1 ohm stable 400@2 ohms and 200@ 4 ohms would it send about 600 if it did run on 1.33 ohms or is it automatically going to put out the 200@4?

It says that it's 1ohm stable, but it doesn't say what the power at 1ohm is. Assuming it has negligable losses to heat buildup, it should be 800x1 @ 1ohm which would work. I'm not a big fan of Kenwood though so personally I would look elsewhere, though it would work.

Yeah I would like to stick w/ rockford but they are gonna want an arm and a leg for 1. If the amp were sending 800@1 ohm what does that turn into for the 4 ohm impendence that the speaker is going to require?

The 3 4ohm impedences will be wired in parallel for a final 1.33 ohm load. At 1.33 ohms, the amp will put out a certain amount of power, which will be distributed evenly between the subs. If you found an amp that did 800x1 @ 1ohm, it would do 600x1 @ 1.33 ohm, and each sub would get 200 watts.

correct me if im wrong but if and amp puts out 200@4ohm 400@2ohm and 800@1ohm then 600 would be at 1.5 ohm so 1.33 ohm would be 668...not that an extra 22 watts will hurt the subs.

For an amp, take the power it puts out at whatever impedence, multiply by the impedence it makes that power at, and then divide by the impedence you will be running it at. Assuming the amp has negligable losses due to heat buildup (this is the reason some amps make 200x1 @ 4ohm and 350x1 @ 2ohm for example) then it will follow this rule (all it is is ohm's law). In this case:
200 @ 4
267 @ 3
400 @ 2
533 @ 1.5
600 @ 1.33
800 @ 1
1600 @ .5

thanks for slearing that up for me, So if I can find a 800@1 ohm amp it will run them at 1.33? I never see stats that read what it is at 1 ohm. Would I need to contact the company to figure that out? Anyone know of a rockford that would be 800@1X1?

Would one of these work they are 1 ohm stable but it would be 1200 rms@ 1 ohm would that hurt my subs?

much better IMO. The JBL 600.1 is 600 rms at 1ohm and 2 ohm. They have a cut of circuitry, which means they would do 1.33 ohms at 600 watts.

If it doesn't list a 1ohm rating then chances are it's not 1ohm stable.

That JBL would work, like JL they are set up to produce the same amount of power at both 2ohm and 1ohm, so at 1.33 ohm it would also be making 600 watts, which would be perfect for what you want.

Ooops! the speakers are 150 rms....400 peak still, so what would that need to be at a 1.33 impendence and 1 ohm? Would the JBL we were talking about be to much RMS for these subs and fry them then? Any suggestions? total of 450 rms now
