Belt Tensioner Rattle.

Back in Nov.12 I replaced the belt tensioner. Today, after much prodding, I noticed the tensioner is rattling which is weird considering is only a year and some months old. The question is what can cause the tensioner to rattle? The belt is fine, is not cracked and it sits fine on the pulleys. Any ideas other than replacing the tensioner?

Thanks

Interesting - The belt tensioner makes rattling noise when engine is idling on drive and not when is revved up or on neutral or park.

Tensioner could be loose.....check the bolt......remove the belt, and check the bearing......

Thank you TechII! I think you're right. I remember now, I didn't replace the tensioner, I only replaced the actual wheel bearing because that was the faulty part. I remember it melted and fell off the actual belt tensioner, to which I only bought the wheel bearing. I think the whole belt tensioner is about to go.

I think the tensioner just has a spring in it check as above reply. Also look at alignment a cracked mount will allow belt sideways movement.
