Dont forget this isnt a 1995 mustang GT it's a 5.0. 1995 was the last year the made the 5.0 engines.

3000GT = 222HP
1995 5.0 = 215 HP

I looked this up and So you have a damn good chance of beating it now. You have more power. You both proably weigh the same. Only thing he has on you is proably the RWD.

Like everybody says proably be down to driver but if i had to put money down probaly be You the 3000GT

What the hell is a 4.7litre mustang ?????? Its either a 4.6 or a 5.0 , there is no 4.7 so i dunno where you got that from.
I'm surprised many of you guys say the mustang will win. Mustangs ain't nothin son, your 3000GT should have him provided you're not the worst driver in the world. Make sure you get a good launch and shift at the right points. Don't hesitate and focus straight ahead... you should do fine.

Win or lose, its all good fun anyway. keep us posted on how it goes.

Actually, if you do the math out, 302 cubic inches equals 4.94978 liters.

Re: 96' base vs. 95' mustang v8 5.0L????

Sorry for the confusion, I am in no way knowledgeable about mustangs other then the 2 my friends own, and the ones that I race against.

zwrangler, you are correct, 4.6 was what I was thinking of, sorry I just couldn't remember the exact number..hence the 4.7/4.9 guess. I just remembered my friend's wasn't 5.0.

azn3000, actually I didn't even know they made 5.0s that long, I thought they had subsided prior to 95, When I hear 5.0 I always picture the late 80s, that is why I assumed it was the 4.6gt.

Well yea the 5.0 is gonna have more torque. It's a V-8. Torque only matters in the take off anyways. And if he dosent know how to drive correctly that torque is gonna be an enemy cause he will just burn the tires of the launch

c'mon man, were not talking about bad drivers were talking wich car is faster, if both are bad drivers then what. get 2 good drivers and then you'll see, the stang will most likely win.

Re: 96' base vs. 95' mustang v8 5.0L????

Sorry about the couple day delay guys, but yesterday i did race the mustang. I launched perfectly and he grabbed a hole lot of 1st. I guess it was his third gear, but one of his gears brought him close to beating me... way to close if you ask me. Around a hundred he started to back off and i acctually took mine to 137 or so, kind of made me feel better about the win as i was pulling away from him. I think that if he was a little bit better at launching this would of been a VERY close race. None the less i beat him... one more car to put on my kill list.

Congrats - you won what should have been (and apperently was) a close one.

hahahah, good stuff mate. No surprise though, mustangs suck a$$ unless they've had a lot of money sunk into them for mods. congrats again on the kill....... now go find a camaro to race
