PT Cruiser just shut down
I hope someone has an answer. My 2004 PT Cruiser was running fine on my way home from work. Then the engine just shut down as if turned off. I coasted to a stop and then tried to start it. The starter would not engage as if there was no battery. All accessories work fine ( dash lights, headlights, power windows etc.) The battery is nearly new and is OK.
I wonder if there is a fuse or fusible link or relay that can go out and effect not only the ignition, but knock out even the starter. Since the engine quit and at the same time the starter motor will not turn, I am sure it's in the electrical system somewhere and not a timing belt or fuel issue. Can anyone help please? |

Re: PT Cruiser just shut down
I found the problem! Hard to believe the car shut down and knocked out even the starter motor from a lousy 20 amp fuse. It was under the hood in the cluster of relays and fuses. I am glad I posted the question anyways since I could not find the same situation in the forums and this post might help someone else down the road.
