so heres where they are hiding

hiya all,i own a 1971 mercury montego MX,sorta the base model of the cyclone.
i`ve owned it for a year and poured money into it like water into a leaky boat.
the body was good, but everything else was shot.
anyone who has a clue how i can improve/upgrade or get rid of the steering system in this car, gimme a shout..it uses the same power assist system as the cougars67-70.
also,a nice dash pad would be greatly appreciated.
any comments on howto make this sled fly?
thanx in advance, cheers from rusty new york state.

If it uses the same system as the Cougar you should be able to convert it over to manual steering. PST (performance suspension technologies) should have all the necessary equipment for a conversion. It probably wont be cheap however. Good luck. Steve

Welcome to the forum!

That sounds like a nice ride. Do you have any pics?

Re: Welcome Mercury muscle car fans!

Hello, I own a 1971 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 429cj car with factory ram air option. Mine is the "Competition Orange" with the Mercomatic trans... Really neat old car. I havent had the car very long. Any information on where to get parts like the rear filler panel, front spoiler, and interior door panels would be much appreciated! Thanks, Tony

There is a couple of websites I'd suggest looking at ! They are www.mercurycougar.net and http://www.grabberorange.net/forums/index.php ! They both have forums and classified areas on the forum . The second site might be most helpful , good luck ! Also check the following page on that forum -- http://grabberorange.net/forums/view...f25a6fbeac24f7
