'04 LS Duratec Transmission Questions.....
I just bought an '04 LS Duratec.
It has 40K miles on it. What type of trans does this car have? What is the suggested service interval for this trans? Is dropping pan and changing the filter sufficient? |

It shows a 30K mile interval for trans fluid changes on the 4R100, and inspect only for all other types. I am also looking for real world experience, not just "what the book says". The book has been proven wrong before. |

The transmission is an AX4N
Service recommendation is 50-60k miles, no power flushes.

Yah, but if you want it to last, you'll be smart and use a "real world" reccomendation of every 30k miles. NO POWER FLUSH. If you drop the pan and do fluid and filter every 30k, and PUT A TRANSMISSION COOLER on, you should have many happy miles ahead of you. |

Any suggestions where to buy the trans cooler? What type? Did Ford offer one as an option? |

Re: '04 LS Duratec Transmission Questions.....
ford doesn't offer a trans cooler
best place to buy one is www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com pretty much any small one will work fine.
