Just Got a 1972 510 Project lmk what u guys think..

whats up im new to this forum i used to be honda-tech guy but recently sold all my civic to start workin on datsuns..well my whole family has liked 510s my whole life we have had more than 20 of them lol...

as of right now my mom drives this..Automatic B&W L16

My Dad Drive This... Manual L18 Dual Carbs

And I Picked up This Bad Boy.. My Project





It was recently in a wreck and i cut off the front end at the seams and baught another front end that was cut off at the seams also so it should go all back together ill keep you guys updated on my progress lmk what you think...

hey whats up yeah thanks for the feedback im probably gunna make it streetcar i just got a l20b block for 50 bucks and i have a 1800 head, probably gunna get a cam for it, i have a friend that works at delta camshaft you know a good size cam i can use with stock valvetrain?? also what strut bars fit datsuns because i went to my local speed shop and they diddnt have one for datsun but would one off of another car fit?? lmk thanks ill keep you guys posted..

BTW are those 92-95 civic seats in ur 510? did they bolt right in lmk thanks

yea, they are.

they fit really well and have lots of side bolster. definite improvement over the stock datsun 510 seats.

i had to drill a few holes, but it fits really well using the honda seat rails (still slides front and back)

the front of the honda seat rails has to be bent down and holes drilled in the 510's seat crossmember/perch (horizontaly). the rear holes are drilled into the floor with small spacers to level the seat. (verticaly)

i don't really have much advice on the cam. maybe a u20? if you are going to replace the cam you must replace the rockers.
my engine's cam has a custom grind, it is really agressive. barely idles, makes power from 3000rpm and 6000rpm. (could probably rev higher, but i don't want to push it)
i have long forgotten the cam profile, i had the engine built for me by TEM (troy ermish racing) a long time ago.
my car is primarily for track and auto-x, it isn't really suitable for street use, but it is still street registered and i do occasionaly take it out on public roads.

as for the strut bar, check ebay.
mine is made by a company called techno-toy-tuning and i bought it on ebay for $120 (shipped). T3 specializes in 510's, AE86's, Z-cars, and SW20 mr2's.

i did a quick ebay search for datsun 510 strut tower bar and this is all that came up.

i wouldn't buy that one. it is nice and shiny and a nismo part, but it is double to triple what i paid for the T3 bar. (and i am quite happy with the quality and performance of the one i got)
