1996 Rodeo compatible parts
Could someone please tell me what body parts are compatible with my 1996 Rodeo?
I bumped in to someone yesterday, so I went to purchase parts from the local salvage yards today. Unfortunately, I could only find 1996 Rodeos who's front ends were damaged. I did, however, find a 1994 Rodeo with a pristine front end. I'm in need of a hood, fenders, headlamps, headlamp mounts, and the grille. I also found other years - 92, and 93 that had great front ends. Could someone please tell me what will fit my '96? |

Re: 1996 Rodeo compatible parts
Well, I can tell you that the front-ends of the '96-'97 years are slightly different then other years, if you've ever tried to find aftermarket parts for your year, you'll note that you can always find stuff for '91-'95 and then stuff for '98-'03; but there's always that break for those 2yrs.
I can tell you that parts for a '95.5-'97 should fit your truck exactly - however, I know for a fact that front ends of a '91-'93 are quite different. I had a '91 Rodeo who's front-end seemed a bit shorter/stouter then my '97 Rodeo. What I would do, is get measurements of the '94 hood/fender and compare it to sizes for '95.5-'97 trucks; headlamps may not be any different from '94's and up. But, I can't remember, it's been too long, if my '91's lights were different then my '97.

Re: 1996 Rodeo compatible parts
Not very many people here own the 96-97 yrs; I may be the only one here who had sustained the same type of damage you're describing parts for.
However, that was 4yrs ago, and it was all covered under insurance; they put on all new parts.

Re: 1996 Rodeo compatible parts
This probably isn't helpful, but I've gone to the dealer to order parts and had to remind them to look in the book for '97, not '98+. One problem I had, in particular, was with the roof rack setup. They wanted to keep showing me the picture for the '98+, and I kept telling them that that wasn't my setup.

Re: 1996 Rodeo compatible parts
I know exactly what you are going through... Seems as though 1995.5 is also a headache. Motor is a tad different from 1995 causing some hard times matching parts up - especially when sales people insist on me calling it either a 1995 or a 1996. Replaced the brake pads last summer - made it in 20 minutes before closing, but there was no 95.5 and part #'s differed from 95-96; ended up buying both sets of brake pads and returning the ones that didn't fit...

Re: 1996 Rodeo compatible parts
I own a '91 and a '94 Rodeo, a 95.5 Passport, and have a '97 Rodeo parts car.
The sheet metal is the same for all Rodeo models from '91-'97. The hood, fenders, doors, headlights, turn signals and corner lights are all the same, the only difference is the '91-'92 models have a bumper and grille that runs straight across the front of the car instead of having a dip in the grille area like the '93+ models. The only other change is the lower front bumper cover (for lack of a better term). The lower polyurethane bumper cover changed slightly over the years, my '91 and '94 are both short and squared off across the bottom, while my '95.5 Passport and '97 Rodeo have a cover that is slightly taller and contoured at the bottom. Most parts for these cars are interchangeable. The roof rack on my '91 is exactly the same design as those on my '94 and '97, the motor in my '94, '95.5 and '97 are all the same basic design but with slightly different add ons. I even just swapped an automatic tranny from a '98 into my '94. In short, the front ends from '91-'97 are compatable but the '91-'92 models have a different bumper and grille. Re: 1996 Rodeo compatible parts
lxndr, would you say that is true as well for the rear end parts? I have a '97 Rodeo and have found a full rear bumper set (both of my side pieces are shattered) off of a '95 and wasn't sure if it was compatible.
