Not a vette but...
I thought you would be interested in this and I'm seeing if anyone knows what this is. It could be my next project.

Re: Not a vette but...
It's a Kit Fiero, based on a concept fiero called the ZR-2. So it's almost a kit car but all american, looks like the ZR-1 doesn't it?

Re: Not a vette but...
It's got a corvette engine behind the seats. Most have a V6 though. I'm trying to ask fiero drivers how the handling is.

Re: Not a vette but...
my good friend has a fiero. he might put a v8 in it soon. but now he has a built up 3.4 from a camaro in it. they handle nice but have manual steering so its alot of turns lock to lock, think its like 5 turns compared to the usual 3 or so. but they are fun cars, mid engine, sit low, handle really good wilth a little suspension work. but supposably if you have a rear swaybar, like if you get a stiffer one then the back will randomly slide out with no warning. but they are fun little cars to drive and actually pretty safe. and insurance isnt bad at all. its a buttload of work though to get a v8 in there.good luck

Re: Not a vette but...
top priority is a corvette, second priority is an F-body. I'd like a fiero but it does seem small. Then again I might like it but I can't say anything because I haven't driven one. Someone told me that if they have a +400hp engine, the transmission will break and CV joints will break. Enough about Fieros, but I have to say that ZR-2 kicks ass. There's a custom interior for the ZR-2s and it's the best interior in a Fiero IMO.

Re: Not a vette but...
I have a BMW V-12 engine and a transaxle to go w/it. I figured a Fiero/Ferrari 308 project would be cool. I've seen the GT40 and the Lambo kits that use the Fiero chassis. Done correctly, they do look cool, but it's still being pushed by a lame 4-cyl.
I picked up a Fiero (for $50) that was a high-water victim. I gutted the interrior and stripped everything in the back to the bare frame (if it had a frame). The more I got into it, the more I hated it. I gave the car to a friend of mine that wanted it. Those things are P.O.S. I'd hate to actually crash one. I did drive a Fiero GT that had the v-6/5 speed, it was pretty nice. I can see where putting in a 3.4 would really benefit. Lower suspension and bad-ass wheels/tires would make it even better. Clean and simple is better (to me) than a pimp machine. Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but I'd like to meet that pimped turd on a lonely stretch of highway in my "real" Corvette. |
