Get rid of the ugly fender skirts, the ugly wheels, and pop in a Civic SI engine and you have a brand new cutting edge CRX. Especially with the split rear window.

Cool...
I take it you're a fan of the Insight's styling then? I think it's a great plan. Yeah it eliminates the hybrid thing, but its a good chassis, real lightweight like the CRX, and its worked for a very low drag coefficient (those panels covering half of the rear wheels, goofy or good-looking depending on your point-of-view, are in fact very functional).
Personally, I'd rather wait for the Honda Sprocket (have you seen this gull-wing-doored prototype?) to go into production and use that as a basis for a small blown sports car. |

CRX pro. IV
In the back of my head, I guess I've let the insight take an unofficial place as the 4th gen. CRX.
I'd love to see someone try an engine swap. Or even better, I'd like someone to start exploring ways to make that hybrid engine more high-performance. |

At the risk of being naive, this photo is a photoshopped gag, right? There is no rear-wheel drive CRX in existence that looks like this, right? It would be the meanest, most muscular-looking CRX in existence if it was for real, but I doubt it could be built with such a sloping nose, even if just for drag use.

I really doubt it's photoshopped, it's too well done. And I'm really thinking somebody out there is crazy enough to do it.

Hi, I think it is real, found it on the net. Drag cars have all sorts of body's on them. Seen a Honda Accord here with a chev and RWD drag car it looked great didn't slop that much as the CRX.

Certainly only any good for the 1/4 mile.
Just think of how it must handle |

I bet it handles as well as an upside-down wheelbarrow.

The insight was modeled after the CR-X of course, but I don't think its 4th gen. I am just glad the design essentials lives on. And if someone tuned up one, I would be really glad to see a photo.

I was thinking about that just recently (while watching some drag races from Englishtown, NJ on video) that the Insight is so light from the production line that it just might make an awesome drag racer. Lose some interior materials, add a roll cage, and the engine bay may need to be "expanded" to fit the engine, but it just might work very nicely (since chassis rigidity is not job #1 when it comes to drag racing cars).
