2015 Blower resistor or module?

Hi, all

2015 1500 Lone star edition.

Blower fan cuts off at random, possibly when I use the brake or stop (low voltage issue?). I changed the blower motor out, which seemed to fix it for a while, but now it is happening again during the heat of summer.

Step 2: Check the blower resistor. Only I can't find a straight answer on what it is even called. I do not have automatic climate control. Is it a relay, a resistor, a module?

Step 3: Where is it? On a 2015, I can tell you it is not next to the blower, because nothing else is down there under the dash. Is it behind the glovebox? How do you get at it?

Thanks for any help. Struggling to get traction with good information so I can even research this. "Blower motor resistor" comes up empty, as does "blower control module." And searching for location for a 2015 comes up empty. Apparently a 2014 and below is the cut off for "where the f**** is it?"

Is it getting good ground?
The AC compressor on one of my vehicles had a bad ground. I stripped the ground wire and grounded it to the engine w/alligator clipped jumper, nice & cold now.

Yeah, it blows cold. The blower fan just cuts out. I checked the connections, which show voltage.

Some research points to the blower motor resistor/module/plate which can cause these symptoms. Just trying to find out what it is called and where it is, as the internet is failing me for a 2015.

How do you get the fan to blow after it quits?
The one on my Bravada quits every once in a while. I tap it with a small hammer and it starts back up. I need a new blower.

Re: 2015 Blower resistor or module?

I have to turn the truck off and on again. Somebody riding with me noticed it was everytime I came to a stop.

The weird part: months ago, I could tap on the blower to get it going again. But then I changed the blower out. Now that it's doing the same problem again, tapping on it no longer does anything.

The two options now are that it is a faulty connection or the resistor. I've tried wiggling the blower plug when it cuts out, and nothing happens. So I think it's the resistor.

But I can't find where the resistor is, how to get to it, or what it is called in order to buy a new part. I saw one post that mentioned that it is behind the glove box, but I'm not sure how to get to that area.

Re: 2015 Blower resistor or module?

Hey Chris,

I don't think that's current for the 2015 models. A cable comes down from behind the glove box and plugs directly into the blower fan.

Plus doing searches for parts on a 2015 doesn't turn up any resistor.

Re: 2015 Blower resistor or module?

Ok, I found a video showing that 2015, the resistor is part of the blower motor. So swapping the motor swaps the resistor as well.

Well, f***. What the heck else could it be?

Ok, I think I found the same video,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T1UCIy6pao

He says the motor is binding...I guess it's dragging on something, maybe the plastic motor frame is warped. Looks like it's going to be tricky.
