Just bought a used 2004 Titan

Hi.My hubby just bought a used Titan after being a ford man all his life.He went to the dealership to actually buy a ford but ended up test driving and buying the Titan.I was pretty shocked,to say the least.
We like the power it seems to have and the look of it.But I have read alot of bad stuff, too, about the brakes and the tranmissions, etc.Has anyone here had one since they first came out? I mean,I know they are "pretty" and are fast, but do they hold up like the old, little nissan trucks? Our ford has almost 200,000 miles on it.Although the Titan only came out in 2004,does anyone know how they have worked out as far as the reliabily and cost to own? Thanks.

Re: Just bought a used 2004 Titan

the only problems i've seen with these trucks were the brakes. nissan came out with updated rotors and pads that have seemed to take care of this. havent seen any transmission or engine problems. trans requires special fluid so dont let joe schmuck garage mess with it. there are a couple recalls that you wanna make sure gets taken care of. call 1-800-nissan1 and give them the VIN # and they can tell you if the recalls pertain to your truck, or you can contact your local dealer. most of the customers that own them that i talk to LOVE them and say they tow circles around ford or chevy. but this is a machine and can break just like any other. maintanence is the key.

Thanks for the info! I think that sounds great.Strangely enough,my husband seems to be crazy about that truck, and he has always been pretty nonchalant about vehicles.Maybe I will get to drive it soon and I will see what the fuss is about. But really, that puts my mind at ease.I appreciate your input!
