'00 Intrigue Air Conditioner temp diff

Just noticed in my '00 Intrigue GLS that the air conditioner is acting strangely. The air coming out of the driver's side vents is considerably warmer than what is coming from the passenger side. The AC does have the separate dial on the dashboard that allows temp adjustment for the passenger, but making this adjustment has no effect on driver's side. Air is at best tepid, but quite cool on the passenger side. It is starting to get warm around here and this could be very annoying in July. Anybody every have this issue?

Re: '00 Intrigue Air Conditioner temp diff

Jpar -
Try searching the forum using "climate control vents", or something similar. There's quite a bit there.
For your problem, there was some agreement from other posters that low A/C freon level could cause your symptoms. The fix was a freon (I guess I mean R-134) recharge.
I myself have a different issue - the driver's side blows colder than the passenger side when I set the A/C to cold, but the driver's side blows warmer than the passenger side when temp is set to hot. So the passenger side just reacts less across the whole spectrum.
The passenger-side actuator motor assy looked OK; I took it apart and didn't see any broken gears like poster "cougar" found.
I'd better stop and get my own thread before I hijack yours. Good fortune with it.

Re: '00 Intrigue Air Conditioner temp diff

Easy to check your actuators for both sides.....

Either go to ECON mode, or disable the compressor......

Disable dual mode......with thermometers in the outside vents, slowly go from full cold to full hot(car at normal operating temp).......do you get the same readings from both sides?

Now set temp at the midpoint......go into dual mode......raise the temp on the passenger dial.......is the output higher than driver's? Now lower the passenger dial......is the output lower than the Driver's side?

If yes to all, then most likely you are low on R134a....
