It already is OFFICIAL at Ferrari's very own website. How much more official do you want to get. See this link for yourself:

Text:

Maranello, 17th October - To be presented at Detroit Motorshow in January 2004, the new 12-cylinder Ferrari will be named 612 Scaglietti.
The 612, designed by Pininfarina to epitomise dynamism and elegance, is named after Sergio Scaglietti, the famous coach builder that was behind some of the most beautiful cars ever to emerge from Maranello. He worked at Modena right at the start of Enzo Ferrari's great adventure. Scaglietti wasn't a man who relied on pencil and paper to create his magnificent designs: he worked like a sculptor, fashioning their forms from aluminium. And now Luca di Montezemolo has dedicated the understated yet historically important all-aluminium 612 to the memory of that great designer.

The 612 Scaglietti is the perfect marriage of sporty thoroughbred Ferrari

I'm not really sure about the scaglietti's design
It's a very nice car and all, but it just doesn't look very ferrari. Ah well, I guess we'll have to wait until we see it for real
