A/C Control Dual Zone switch assembly Not Working
My 98 Oldsmobile intrigue HVAC control unit which is dual zone will not come on. The led lights at times will flash on then off immediately. I've read other threads that say the ignition switch is a potential problem but the ignition is new I just changed it for other reasons. I'm wondering if either the ignition switch could be bad or if a wire could be a problem. I need your help it's getting hot here in New Orleans. Your input will be greatl appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Doug |

Re: A/C Control Dual Zone switch assembly Not Working
Which lights are you talking about? If you are talking about the one on the a/c button, that usually means it is low on freon. But if the whole unit cuts on and off, then you have some issue with the harness or the unit itself. Do you have aftermarket stereo? Have you checked the wiring to the unit to make sure it is plugged in properly?

Now it is totally not working at all. yes there is an aftermarket radio installed. The control unit is not getting any power. Is there a way to check the unit while unplugged from the harness to see if it will turn on? I've read threads in the past with similar A/C Heater controls problems but don't recall reading any solutions or tips on the problem either being electrical/harness, relay, it's not a fuses, PCM signal, etc. I find it difficult to search in AF for symptoms on components. Any help or historical knowledge and tips would be a great help. This response is long over due, been riding without a/c, but in New Orleans this year, it's a hottttt season. Need to get this fixed ASAP. I'll be working on it tomorrow trying to troubleshoot the electrical side of is. Thanks, Doug |

Re: A/C Control Dual Zone switch assembly Not Working
I had a similar problem where the light on the A/C button flashed. THe freon had leaked out of the O-ring on the compressor.
Had it checked first and was told the pressure was fine but it still did not work. Had it checked again but they still could not find a leak but replaced the O-ring anyways seems to have solved the problem. |

Re: A/C Control Dual Zone switch assembly Not Working
I have noticed on mine for some reason (and i dont know why) that if i remove the wire going to the main louver motor under the glovebox and plug it back in a minute later it some how resets that motor and my heater unit works right again.
give that a try and see what happens.I know when the louver motor is broken it wants to turn all the time and messes with the hvac unit. |
