1/24 LeMans Miniatures Resin GT40
I've not long got back from my model clubs annual show in which I picked up a LeMans Miniatures resin 1/24 GT40 for the bargain price of £40!
My question is the 1967 decals in the kit are a bit shabby and old. So I'm looking into alternate decals and I've seen some Speedline decals to do the Gulf Team Wyer 1968 ADAC 1000km racer. Were there any major differences in the 1967 and 1968 gt40 which could cause the decals not to fit? |

There could well be. Which LeMans Miniatures kit did you pick up?

Re: 1/24 LeMans Miniatures Resin GT40
Ah, upon a bit of research the M1 was a prototype version of the gt40 and the body varied quite a bit. I'll have to try to find someone who does decals for the M1. Any ideas?

Re: 1/24 LeMans Miniatures Resin GT40
Actually, the GT40 was the predecessor of the Mirage M1, it's an interesting story if you enjoy that era of motor racing.
The Mirage was raced in Gulf colors so you could conceivably, with little creativity, use the Gulf GT40 decals on the Mirage. The key difference is the roof line - both Gulf GT40's and the Mirage M1's were prepared by John Wyer with the Mirage following when he lost the deal to prep the GT40.. If memory serves me correctly, the only surviving M1 can be found in this collection: http://www.rofgocollection.com/ Interestingly, the collection is also home of a JW prepared GT40 which gives you can great single site for a point of comparison.

Oh right, thanks for the correction ;-)
I'll carry on with my research and in the meantime i'll pop the kits decals in the window for a couple of weeks. |

Re: 1/24 LeMans Miniatures Resin GT40
check Ebay and search for JimHeller he sells a lot of period decals for many different types of race cars, he could very well have a set for the Mirage.

well done on capturing this rare beast, by the looks of it, your decal problem is quite small, it used very little decals, apart from the stripes, numbers etc, the only real difficulty may be the horseshoes, try modelworks.co.uk, dmc decals, i should think all will be easily found
