Re: '05 acura RL vs '05 infiniti M45

I think I might also add that Cadillac's flagship luxury car (The DTS) is front Wheel Drive.

Next, there is very little that can be called ho-hum about Citroen or Alfa Romeo (Citroen did go a bit ho-hum in the early 90's, though)

Secondly, every vehicle I named is aimed at the luxury sector of the market. The 607 Peugeot has more doo-dads than an E500, the Vel Satis costs about as much as a 5 series, the Maxima is the flag ship for EUROPE (Even though it's a taxi in the making), there is no Infinity here.

I should also add that the RL is badged "Honda Legend" everywhere else.

Not anymore. The new CTS and STS are rear-wheel-drive. And I know that Citroen and Alfa Romeo have made some sporty cars, I think almost every manufacturer has. But the flagship sedan is what represents the whole company, and if the company makes mostly FWD daily drivers, that's probably what the flagship is going to be. Luxury/performance brands usually make RWD cars, so that's what their flagships are.

exactly. the Legend is the flagship HONDA sedan period. that is the BEST that Honda has the offer. while the Maxima is only in the middle of the Nissan food chain. its not even close to be the car to represent the Nissan as a Whole.

You are missing the point, until 2006, Cadillac's flagship car will be FWD and has been FWD for over 20 years now.

Also, While Citroen specialise in quirky econoboxes, Alfa Romeo specialise in Sport-Luxury cars, they have always competed with BMW, as opposed to Ford. Come to think of it, Lancia also make Luxury cars and thier flagship (Thesis) is also FWD and has been since the Thema of the early 1980's.

Well, Cadillac has realized that FWD luxury = no-no, and are working to fix the problem. And with the introduction of the new CTS and STS, both of which you can go buy right now, the DTS is retired to an entry-level position, similar to the Lexus ES 330 and Infiniti I35.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge about Citroen and Alfa Romeo. Those brands are not offered here in the States. But just because they are still using FWD on their top models doesn't make it right (unless their top models aren't very expensive).
