Ok, so let's get started.
This time it will be 1/24 Tamiya Mercedes 300SL with MGSF restomod transkit "Fat Boy" (can be purchased at Hiroboy and DModelkits). I have started with frame and suspension: And wheels... Tire name will be painted in white. Tires are only dry fitted with rims. Rims are painted with Gunze SM-06 Some body cuts has been done to fit big wheels and lowered suspension. More progress will be soon when winter holiday ends. |

Re: 1/24 Mercedes 300SL + MGSF Fat Boy restomod kit
I had never seen this kit or the inspiration car until your post. After a bit of searching I can see that this should be (a) a very interesting build and (b) a stunning model when complete. I wish you all the best with the build.

Cool look on the tubular frame. Seems to be a nice an steady build. Are the 3D printed parts a good fit?

Re: 1/24 Mercedes 300SL + MGSF Fat Boy restomod kit
Busy weekend... This is only base coat.
Colors: Mr.Hobby Saphire Blue XC05 tinted with clear violet C108. Not the best pictures - I will try to make some in sunlight. Next step - clearcoat Last edited by Macio4ever; 04-24-2023 at 01:00 AM. |

It is a stunning color, I like it. Maybe it wouldn't be my choice on this car, but then again... it is not my car
Yeah I would like to see the sun hitting that paint, that will be awesome. |

Re: 1/24 Mercedes 300SL + MGSF Fat Boy restomod kit
Some progress pics.
Clear coated with Mr Hobby GX112, polished with 3M system (Trizact 6000 and 8000) and 3M polishing: Extra Fine Plus follwed by 3M Ultrafina I still cannot grab full shade of this colour but it looks very vivid and deep with violet hint. I am happy about outcome. |

Brilliant polishing there. The reflection is spotless. I get it from the color, it is sometimes nearly impossible to get it right on a photo. But I'll take your word for it on this one. Stunning body work!

Re: 1/24 Mercedes 300SL + MGSF Fat Boy restomod kit
Awesome paint job!
Looks to be that the metallic pearl flakes in paint are the right size and fits the scale of the car. And the chassis sits low, making it look very aggressive!
