CD Error !?! Replace? Has factory DVD...

Hey guys...new to the site, so I sure hope you can help.

I have a 2004 Eddie Bauer Expedition with factory rear DVD. My CD player has jammed (I assume) because when I try to use it, it just reads "CD Error" and does nothing. From what I have read so far, that is a common problem.

So, I was researching after market double din units and was looking at one with possibly Navigation and DVD for the front. From what I was told by a local audio installer is that he *may* be able to still get the rear factory DVD to work, but the audio would have to come from the factory headphones and there was no way to get audio through the speakers. (This may be good for some, but not crazy about little girl being zoned out with headphones. Maybe I'm crazy.)

Has anyone heard of this or replaced their factory CD and still been able to use and hear the rear DVD through the factory speakers?

Thanks!!!
