Re: 82 cimarron no start
It sounds like weak spark. Check the coil. Check the inside of the cap. On the fuel side of things, have you checked fuel pressure? Does starting fluid help at all. Since it sat all winter, check the air intake for an obstuction due to some critter building a nest. Have you tried some fresher gas?

Re: 82 cimarron no start
i wish i would of read your post 2 days ago!! the timing chain was fine! the spark is WEAK like you said... what happens if you assemble it and a tensioner on timing chain is missing? new chain but no tensioner!!!

Re: 82 cimarron no start
I'm not sure on your engine but my intuition tells me the valve timing would be out. You might even seriously damage the engine even trying to start it. I doubt it would start or even run, much less correctly. I think you have to open it up again and correct the deficiency.

Re: 82 cimarron no start
You noted that a tensioner is missing? You'll have to replace any missing or broken parts. I'd recommend getting a Haynes or Chilton manual for reference. I can't offer specifics as I am not familiar with that engine.
