Dancing Speedometer needle

I have a 2002 Expedition XLT with 5.4L triton V-8 AWD with 4x4 78,000 miles and a dancing speedometer needle

a few days ago the speedometer needle started to dance all over the place when i was still in park - when i drive the needle still jumps around regardless of how fast I am going - when changing from park to drive there s a small jerk - when slowing down and almost at a stop there is a slight surge and the needle still jumps all over - and then the engine dies - a mechanic did a diagnotic test yesterday and said it was sensor issues - well after replacing 3 sensors we are worse off now - car dies many times in a 10 mile drive - everytime i slow down it stalls - and when in park the needle jumps around like crazy. I drove around the block and it died when I stopped - i watched the needle jump all over and then it buired itself at 100mph while i was sitting still and then the engine died.

What to do???????????????

Um..... turn the stereo down??

Sorry

It sounds a bit like a bad electrical ground somewhere, either to the instrument cluster, the chassis ground or elsewhere.

Re: Dancing Speedometer needle

You need a new battery. It has happened like that to my 2001 Eddie twice.
