#3 coil bad

Hello all....New Guy here
I had ford run a check and they told me that the #3 coil is bad. Problem is it is burried under a fuel rail? can anyone explain how to get to this coil and and practical real life advice on doing this repair. It is just too expensive to have done and i am willing to try to do it myself. It is a 97 5.4 4x4.
thanks in advance for any advise.

It is really not that hard to change once you remove the cover from the top of the engine. All you need is a 1/4" socket set with a 7mm socket. The #3 coil would be the third one back on the passenger side.

You can do it! Good luck!

Re: #3 coil bad

Thanks Johnny, I guess my question is that there is a silver rail over the top of the coils. If I remove this, is there anything special that needs to be done to this rail to reistall it? It looks important, and I am a little fearful that I may create myself more work, and that I may have to end up paying to have my MISTAKE fixed. Hey thanks in advance for the advise.

Re: #3 coil bad

What you're talking about is the fuel rail and it doesn't have to be removed. Just unplugg coil connector remove the 7mm bolt holding it down and then just pull it out. To install just reverse the procedure.
