1988 grand caravan - STRONG hesitation when warm
Hi,
Does anybody have an Idea on this one. I have a 1988 Dodge Grand Caravan that bucks when warm. It runs fine for about 5 minutes and then it "bucks" or "hesitates (STRONGLY) as if there were air bubbles in the fuel line. I have reciently replaced the fuel filter, main coil, fuel pump, coolant sensor, negative battery to Motor wire, alternator, and fuel line. Ive also tried a new computer from a junk yard. Compression is good. Im getting a code 23 from the computer. Thanks in advance. -Ty |

hi ty:
what engine etc? code 23 says: throttle body tempratue too high or too low. this is for a 2.5 L single point EFI, fuel injected, non-turbo, 4 cyl engine. could be a loose electrical connection or a leaky vacuun hose or vacuum connection get the haynes manual. although it says that home mechanic diagnosis is difficult, it gives step by step instructions with good illustrations on how to remove and replace the throttle body. i would try cooling the throttle body with a wet rag wrapped around it. if that affects the problem for either the better or worse at least you will have located the problem. remove the rag to avoid fires etc. i would also check the shut down relay by disconnecting it TEMPORARILY. good luck fwest32 |
