I looked at a 323GTX in Otawa the a couple years ago. I was going to buy one too. How'd I know? Well insurance is cheap so I had to be an old car, car is cheap and you can easily get 200hp out of it for cheap. Could have been a Talon or Eclipse, but I just had a feeling.

I thought about a Talon or Celica All-Trac Turbo, but they are just to heavy and visible to the cops.

Lets just say the purchase price was a bit higher then average for a couple of my cars. The mods were pretty cheap in comparison.

A little more then normal? Gee, you only have two Spyders and a DELOREAN! those things are about as common as GT 500's(well, maybe not that rare...) But i thought the deloreans were fast cars? 130 HP doesn't seem like enough to make it that fast

DeLoreans were never fast. They had a Peaugeot (sp) V6, and werent fast. They looked pretty good, and were unique, and I would think they handle well.

Actually - only one is a spyder, the other is the coup. Yeah, that Delorean only has about 130 hp but it does feel like its pretty quick. But it get destroyed anytime my fiance and I go cruising in that and one of the VR4 and race each other. Sharp car and its got the looks, but it doesnt have the horses to back them up.

i may not fit in with all you import racers, but i just bought my 98 regal gs a few months ago--bone stock so far, except for new plugs and wires. i'm planning several mods in the near future, though: smaller sc pulley to take it up to 12 lb boost and +20hp, ramair setup (they claim +20hp, but i'll be happy with 10), new pcm for possible +10hp, lo-temp stat, -1in springs, strut brace, etc. kind of hard to find parts for new buicks, though. any advice would be appreciated!

My sentiments exactly. I'll break it down one of these days, but... off-hand I'd say it's somewhere between $20,000 and $25,000. Fucking scary!!! I guess I justify it by looking at it as doing my part to help the American economy get back in gear

I'm about to throw 6-7 grand (USD) in a 95 Eclipse GSX just on performance mods. And the scary thing is, this is with getting the parts off ebay and discount places. Maybe someone could help me cut down on the price though. Here's what I'm planning:

*New intake
*2.3L Stroker rebuild with lower compression ratio<--- think it's really necessary for running 25+ psi w/o detonation?
*20G Turbo
*Front-mounted intercooler
*Remachined heads (ported/polished)
*New valves, springs, camshaft, etc etc
*GReddy exhaust from performance headers to tip
*New fuel pump
*CenterForce clutch
*660cc or greater injectors
*Completely new ignition

I'm 16 and it's a burn in the wallet to want to run 11's RELIABLY. Any suggestions for what I have up there?

This does not include the tuning, transmission, and chassis support mods!

You could bend up your own exhaust in shop class, saving you tons of money. Just find out the specs of the aftermarket exhaust, and duplicate it.

And search the local scrap yards/police confiscations. If they have stuff, it will be even cheaper. Also, consider going "anti-rice", by gutting the interior and all sound insulation/excess cloth/excess metal. The weight will pay off big-time.

Good luck! (and damn, you got some money:alien: )

Exactly! who the hell wants a 300lbs. sound system? a power outlet for my discman will do me jsut fine. Who needs rear seats? upholstry? thats for wussies! you can remove a good 200-300lbs. from your car if you do things right. My cousin's protege GT with both us in it and a full tank of gas now weighs only 1900lbs. because we removed everything we didn't need.

Also, i don't see why people are paying all this money for a turbo system. They're esay HP, but they're also damageing to your car. The only point is to increase your Compression ratio, but this can be done with jsut good tuning. Thats what i love about Spoon Civics, they don't use turbos or superchargers, but they can still do over 200mph. Plus they sound SOOOOOO Sweet. I mean whats scarier then a car that revs to 15,000RPM to shift? it sounds like a jet turbine!

If ya ask me Natural Aspiration is the way to go

I am looking for a car with good power and a cheap price, and turbos are good for that (it was the only way to make power in the 80's, really)

And Mazda tells me they have no knowledge of a 13-1 compression 323 or Protege?!
