APM Ferrari 458 GT2 1/24th
This one looks really good. APM Ferrari 458 GT2 1/24th scale kit. I like APM better than Studio 27 and Hobby Design. They did a wonderful job on the 1/24th F50GT1.

Re: APM Ferrari 458 GT2 1/24th
LOL...I read it now...when I am finishing the body of mine (wip very soon).
This version has the air vents on front bonnet, hope it would be possible build model without theme to finish it as the real racing ones. They also missed the lower blade under the nose air intake, and the airvents for brakes are smaller as from presentation cars (I have to say something bad ...damn it..LOL),as well as the position of the side mirror is wrong, surely only on the dispaly model temporary assembled.

That is true but it does look like the front panel is taped on in the picture. Maybe more than one version can be done?? We will have to wait and see. I was checking the prices and it should be around $175.00 US.The cockpit and other parts were very good on the 1/24th F50GT1 so I have some faith in APM. I hope they do the wheels correctly. They did a good job on the F50GT1's wheels. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013 |

Re: APM Ferrari 458 GT2 1/24th
LOL Tom,I am getting mad to work on that part over mine.In these pics is taped, but all other cars have it.The same for the lower diffusor, different and with bigger holes over blade.
Again, mines are just modelling considerations.APM model looks stunning and at a very very good price for a resin kit. suspect is the latest 2011 version, also little different in the shape and dimension of the "cubes" on the lower part of tail, near diffusor. I tried to copy this one, even if seems a later modification to that part, done recently. Now I just miss a slot company as Carrera Digital making it in plastic as the Porsche rsr slot body for few euros available on ebay...and I can quietly suicide.

In my APM kit there are resintires with resin wheels. Not bad, but the wheels are too small from their diameter for the resin tires, while the resintires are not round. When I build the model, I put the wheels on a lathe to make them smaller and put the insert into alu rings in combination with rubber tires |

Re: APM Ferrari 458 GT2 1/24th
Was there someone looking for APM's 599xx kit ? Cannot find that post any more, but I found this kit on sale on eBay by APM again.
Get it while it is available - http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-24-APM-Fer...#ht_500wt_1180 I have this kit, but not started it yet. One weak point of it is tires. They are a joke in my kit. Concave in profile towards inside of the wheels. I've got set from Tamiya FXX kit to replace them and FXX's tires fit OK onto APM's wheels. Another thing I don't like is that vertical aero fins behind wheels arches are molded together with the body. They will be a pain to paint properly, I suspect. HD kit is better in this area, as fins are molded on separate parts. PS: APM is selling F50GT kits again also. Tempting ... |

Tom, have you contacted APM recently? Well, as soon as I saw this thread, I sent a message to APM through their website, and got an answer from apmodelco (at) gmail.com who says his name is Chow. During the communication, I felt something strange going on, so, this time, I sent a message to APM's ebay account. Guess what? The reply says "I believe you are in contact with a hacker." I feel so much confused. If anyone knows APM's valid contact number or email account, plz PM me. Last edited by neobox; 04-30-2012 at 10:34 AM. |
