how to go about becoming a mod

i know i probably dont qualify but i would like to know what it takes to become a mod is there like a spiritual rite of passage or the test of fire or something?

maybe this forum's mods and/or webmaster doesnt look for ppl like me to be mods,

or maybe even they arent loooking for any more/replacement mods, etc.
