My definition of ricey = Slow imports with more cosmetic mods than performance modes i.e, 5 foot spoiler, huge ass fart can muffler, body kits with stock rims, too many stickers is major rice a roni! That type of stuff. My motto has always been, dont make a car look faster than it really is.

the term rice was coined cuz some cars(especially honda's) tendency to burn oil when they engage vtec(or other non-honda form of cam phasing) which, to some, the burning oil smells like burnt rice. the real term is rice burner

Dude, thats not the reason its called a rice burner or the reason that imports are reffered to as rice. That term has been around since my dad had his 67 Datsun 1200 back in 78, and well before that. Its a rude term used to poke fun at where the car is built.

it actually startd with the chain driven subarus that first came over here. they were 2 stroke and the burning oil smelled like rice. i'm sure it would have been called a "something else"-burner if it came from somewhere other than japan. you're right, but that's not the only reason why

What's the difference between a guido car and riced out one? (I resent the term rice)

True, but the majority of people that use the term use it because of the location of origin of the car. I didnt know about the burnt rice smell, thats very interesting.
A guido car to me would be a cadi or an old fire bird with the big fire chicken (pheonix) painted on the hood. The fire bird for sure. And Kaoru, rice is a rude term, I dont blame you, just curious if you are of asian decent? Not that it matters... |
