Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
#24R has just been on Sky Sports 2 being taken up the hill by it's owner.
Just a shame the bloody wind is causing the signal to drop all the time and therefore I couldn't see the full run. |

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
Surprised that no one has commented on the carbon panel over the chassis plate of 01R! Will post my pictures. Took about 20 or so.

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
It's been there almost since the beginning actually. This photo was taken at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 25th 1995, held just one week after #01R's Le Mans victory.
![]() We also discussed it a bit when #01R was on display at the 2007 Autosport Intl show as well so it wasn't a surprise to most of the regular contributors I guess. >8^) ER |

Sorry, my fault for not making myself clear, didn't mean it as being breaking news just that fact that it was still obscured and the conjecture that it generates. |

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
Ahh - well I'd imagine the panel is probably there to stay. At least I see no reason why McLaren would alter the car. Maybe someone will get close enough to have a peek behind the panel if that's possible.
I've no longer got any doubts that this one is #01R though. The early rumors suggesting that Brunei had gotten the actual LeMans winner and McLaren had kept the replica were pretty convincingly squashed when the list of cars from the Brunei garage was released noting "GTR09R" in their collection. >8^) ER |

This may have been covered at length and apologies if it has but why do you think the pannel is in place then? |

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
I think it is there to drive those of us who care about these sorts of things just a little mad.
![]() ![]() Looks like it holds some sort of LCD display. Really not sure what it does or why it is necessary though. ![]() Mason's GTR has an extra panel there as well that holds the screen to his back-up camera, but whoever installed that one was wise enough to mount it back two inches so as not to hide the chassis plate. I am guessing that whoever installed the panel in 01R gave zero consideration to that. ![]() >8^) ER |

Ahh, didn't know that much appreciated. The McLaren people must have thought I was mad peering throught the right hand side window for ages!

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
Should've asked them and tested their knowledge about the placement of the chassis panel.

I did think about it but figured that they would be well briefed not to tell the likes of me! Also spoke to one of them for a good while and he told me a little bit about working on the cars. Nothing revolutonary but nice to hear from someone who works in Albert Drive! |

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010
Hmmm only 2 McLaren F1's at Goodwood Show?
Is that really true!? Supercars.net image gallery confirm this, what comes to the shots of the show. ![]() There was supposed to be much more of them..... Le Man allready told me something about this, but why this went like this, but man...Only 2?! But anyway; Greg thanks for the images. Great to see #24R and #01R so well shoted up! Both JJ's ex-racers. Fantastic! And the clips of yours on Youtube.... ![]()
