What Spark Plugs Best For A 1988 Econoline
Hello,
I have a Ford 1988 Econoline - 350 7.5L FI V-8 RV and would like to know what spark plugs would be the best for it. This RV has only 2400 miles on it that I got from my folks, I think that the spark plugs need to be replace even though it run still good and is 24 years old and I do not think that they have been changed. I was also reading that on two of the spark plugs on the passenger side will need to be taken off threw the tire well is this correct for this Ford? The two kinds of spark plugs that I would like to us is either Autolite XP Iridium/Spark Plug, or a Bosch Platinum+4/Spark Plug. These are the ones that AutoZone sagest for this vehicle. I have read that one person said that the Bosch plug do not work good on the Ford Econolines. I will take any suggestions on any other spark plugs that would be better for me. Thank you for any help on this problem. Doug forrests6@yahoo.com Last edited by forrests6; 05-12-2012 at 03:47 PM. Reason: Tex was not all the same |

Re: What Spark Plugs Best For A 1988 Econoline
Welcome to AF!!
Your engine has 351 cubic inches not 350. May not sound like much but there is a big difference in that the 350 is a GM engine not Ford. That said, I would recommend the Autolite plugs. The Bosch +4 plugs are a gimmick and I have never really heard of anyone having good luck with them. As for getting to the plugs I can't advise you because I have never worked on this model of vehicle. I suggest that you also change the plug wires at the same time. They will break down due to age and rob you of performance. Also, the fuel filter should be changed just because of sitting around for so long. Good Luck! |
