Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Well, it went for considerably less than I thought it would; the midnight [uk] ending time couldnt have helped, but it went for only £137.50

Hello all,

My question might be slightly off topic, but let me try this.
I read from Mr Frank Selldorff great thread that Driving Ambition features the sketches of the proposed designs for the F1. Having been through most of the threads, I have not -yet- found any picture of them. As Mr Selldorff reckoned that he may have preferred one of these potential designs over the actual F1, I would really be interested in seeing them.
Of course the best way is to acquire one of these DA!

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

There's one page in DA that shows some of the other proposed designs. Most are quite similar as Stevens was working with the same hard points underneath.

A few are interesting, but I am pretty confident they made the right decisions.

Thanks ER!
I have to agree with that! I may be biased but I think the style and proportions of the F1 look so perfect even after +20 years. Definitely the best choice!

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Hello,

it would be interesting to ask mister Selldorff which was the design he prefered between the 12.

Do you know the actual price of DA first and second edition ? How the signatures of Lewis Hamilton and Ron Dennis can upgrade the value of the second edition ?

Phil

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Ron Dennis's signature can increase the DA price - I had 2 with Rons, Gordon Murrays and Doug Nye's signatures and sold one for north of £200.00, and yet sold an unsigned edition for £125.00 [yet missed out on buying one just with Gordons Sig for £85 ]

I haven't seen one with Lewis's signature, but seeing as he hasn't done that well recently I'd expect it to still command a higher price than an unsigned one but not as much as if it were sold when Lewis was winning championships. Hold on to it though, as he may win more in the future

I've just bought a Doug Nye, Ron Dennis and Gordon Murray signed DA, and it went for less than one signed by Doug Nye, Creighton Brown and Gordon Murray

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

If anyone is interested I have a copy of GT Endurance 1996 which I'm looking to get rid of. It's still in its shrink wrapping, and apart from a small crease to the top corner of the back cover it's in new condition. PM me if you are interested and I can supply pictures and any other details.

Mr 16R may be interested as it has some good shots of his car in there - Sami may be too as he is quite interested in the cars racing that year

Good luck with the sale - it's a great book and would make a great addition to someone's F1 library
