Honda HR-V 1999 1,6 - problem with CVT automatic gearbox?
Object: Honda HR-V 3D 1999 1,6 CVT 185.000 km
I suspect the CVT gearbox is faulty, it generates a severe vibration / noise when I pull off from a standstill. This vibration does not exist if I pull off very gently or if the car is already moving with a low speed. Vibration / noise lasts for a one – two seconds while the car is accelerating and disappears (it appears just at the moment while the wheels start rotating). It is much worse if I pull off uphill. Any advise? Thanks a lot in advance..... |

Re: Honda HR-V 1999 1,6 - problem with CVT automatic gearbox?
just for the record (I assume your issue has been dealt with)
I have been looking extensively for a HR-V CVT, and had my old garage check an available car on quality and maintenance. During the test drive I experienced similar issues, driving away from a standstill gave a shutter, which indicates an issue with a neglected recall for these series. At least the CVT should be rinsed, and oil replaced according to manual. From factory they had used wrong oil, and therefore recall was issued. And they extended the warrenty up to 10 years. So please check if recall has been performed on your car! Other than that, maybe regular wear and tear? 185000 is quite a mileage but shouldn't be an issue. Good luck! |

Re: Honda HR-V 1999 1,6 - problem with CVT automatic gearbox?
Hi everybody, thanks for the birthday wishes.
I also have a CVT issue with my 2002 HR-V. It constantly changes revs up and down as I try to accelarate. The problem is more when engine is cold. Any help please |

Hi mate,
it seems to me like you having a issue with your IAC ( Idle Air Control ) valve. take it out from the throttle body & clean it with TB cleaner & place it back carefully. erase the memory by pulling the memory backup fuse or disconnect the battery.. now you are good to go! |
