high pitch noise

Hi, my 05 SRT-4's turbo make a kinda high pitch whistle noise. The weird thing is that it only makes the noise when the car is cold. So basically if i haven' t driven for a while or overnight, then start it up and drive and when the turbo kicks in there is a high pitch noise. After a little while of driving the noise is gone as my engine warms up. If any one has any insight i would love to hear it. thanks.

That would be the screaming of your passengers

Seriously, you may have a turbo shaft bearing that is on the way out, or you may have a partly-blocked oil feed line to the turbo, so sufficient flow is only produced when the oil is warm and has thinned-out.

How frequent have your oil changes been?

I would suggest to change the oil and try a synthetic. Also, avoid punching it until the oil has warmed-up. You could try adding a block heater and plugging the car in to spped up warm up times.

However, be prepared the turbo bearings may simply be heading out the door and the turbo will eventually need replacement.
