1998 Grand Marquis - hot no start

Hey everybody, great forum! I've searched around the site, but couldn't find my exact problem, so here goes nothin'.
This is my Grandmother's car and today is the first time I have ever driven it. It doesn't get driven much, and rarely on the expressway. I was bringing it home to replace the shocks. Stopped at the parts store and bought the parts after 40 minutes of expressway driving. Got in the car, engine cranked fine, no start. Checked fuel pressure at the rail just by pressing the schrader valve, seemed to have good pressure. I had no tools with me. Got a ride home, came back 3 hours later, started fine. I was thinking crank sensor. My Aunt, who is somewhat familiar with the car, said this has happened before. I know this is out there, but she said if you put the car in drive, remove the key, put the key back in, put it back in park, starts fine. Sorry for the lengthy post. Any ideas, other than getting Aunt to stop drinking? Thanks in advance

I would suggest checking fuel filter, followed by fuel pressure (with a gauge), and if that checks out, then check for spark. After that, then start looking into testing/replacing sensors such as the crank sensor.

Also the IAC valve or TPS may be to blame so don't neglect these easy-to-access parts.
