Lightbulb Re: Ignition Switch replacement procedure

Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery .Next, remove the airbag from the steering wheel by loosening the 2 Allen screws on the backside of wheel, then carefully try connector from airbag itself.Remove 2 plastic pieces that sit behind steering wheel by removing 2 Phillips head screws.Be careful when removing pieces they are made out of very breakable plastic.Remove steering wheel, mark wheel first.Disconnect coil wire that sits on the back of the steering wheel.

Re: Ignition Switch replacement procedure

Hey guys, I just wanted to say I read through this thread and determined my 97 Blazer's problem was the ignition switch. About 80% of the time that I started the car it would get stuck in 3rd gear and the Check Engine Light would come on, and then usually the key would be hard to remove from the cylinder after parking. So, I got the ignition switch fixed and so far all has been well **knock on wood**.

Thanks for the information!
