2001 exhaust leak/ticking noise

My daughter has a 2001 Xterra, developed a ticking/clicking noise. Increases with acceleration. Exhaust leak maybe. Only on driver side. Easy fix? Ideas? Thanks for any and all suggestions!!

Passenger side manifold is prone to cracking, but the driver's isn't unheard of. Does it get quieter as the engine warms up?

Nope, clicks and ticks all the time the engine is running...While the accelerator is pressed, not while idling.

I have an 2001 SE and I had to replace both. Not at the same time ,but both none the less.
