Check engine soon light????

Guys I have an 03 XTerra V-6 and the check engine soon light came on all of a sudden. It has around 82,000 miles on it. Any ideas why it may have come on before I pay somebody to hook up an analyzer to find out? Thanks for the suggestions.

Go to Autozone or Pep Boys or even AAMCO, most will read the codes for free.

It has happened to me 3 times. The first two were gas cap related. Disconnecting the negative battery terminal will fix that. The third was the charcoal emission canister needed to be swapped out. The cheap fault readers almost always say a knock sensor. I would go to a Nissan service center before doing any work.
